The Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has said that he is extremely happy to be playing under his former manager at Liverpool – Rafa Benitez. Chelsea recently appointed the former Liverpool manager as a replacement for Roberto di Matteo, who lost his job after recent run of poor results. After initially failing to make substantial changes to the team, Benitez has achieved two consecutive victories in which Torres has become the main attraction. In the wins over Nordsjaelland and Sunderland, Torres has scored four goals. Chelsea have also scored nine goals in these two matches, as they have returned to form in the most emphatic manner.
Fernando Torres has also returned to form after he has found the back of the net following a gap of more than 12 hours. It has been a long time since Torres has scored four goals in two matches. This poor run of form has seen Chelsea change three managers, as they search for a man who could get the best out of the Spaniard. Now, they finally seem to have got it in the form of Benitez after Torres admitted that he loves playing under the Spaniard. Torres has also said that Benitez has made subtle changes to the way Chelsea play and it suits him more than before.
“We are playing a bit differently. We don’t pass the ball as much as we did before in the final third of the pitch and we try to play more direct and explode the players forward with Victor Moses or me or Eden Hazard on the left. We are using the quality of Oscar or Mata in the middle and we are attacking more and making more chances. We are working as a team, as we did in the beginning of the season with Robbie,” said Torres.
